My name is Charlene MacPherson and I am a mother to a wonderful 2 year old boy. I also work part time as a Mental Health Therapist in my own private practice.
As you may well know keeping up with a 2 year old and having a job becomes very busy and stressful at times. With trying to balance my schedule, my husband’s schedule, my son’s schedule, and of course all around availability of day care can make things quite stressful.
Stress is what lead me to start having issues with eating unhealthily and “not having time” to work out. Of course I did gain a little baby weight when my son was born but I was already in the obese category before. I gained a total of 20lb with my son which put me up to just over 200lb as a 5’ 1” female.
One day, I was getting ready to go out with my husband and my son and I tried to put my wedding rings on and they would not fit. It was at that moment that I realized that I was tired of being overweight and that I could not keep doing what I was doing.
Fast forward to today. I am the healthiest I have ever been in my life, which is a lot to say, since when I was younger I played 10 and 11 years of Lacrosse and Soccer, including High School Sports. I have lost 74lbs total over 10 months and I have gone down from size 18 pants to size 8 pants and from size XL shirts to size Medium to Small. I have all the energy in the world to balance both my professional life and home life. And can lift a 50lb dog food bag with ease.
How did I do it, do you ask?
Through healthy eating, exercise, finding the right motivators, changing the way I think about how I eat, what I eat, how I think about exercising, how I think about myself if I have a bad day, how to manage stress, and many other things.
