My name is Rachel Stinchcomb and I have been going to Wreck Room for almost 2 years now. I have a beautiful baby boy who is 10 weeks old. I am happy to say that I worked out at Wreck Room right up until my due date! (This little guy was a week late). So that entire week, I went for long walks, did squats, bounced on my yoga ball and did everything else you’re supposed to do to induce labor! He finally arrived at 41 weeks and 1 day on January 7, 2017 at 10:58pm.
After bringing our baby home and adjusting to parenthood, I knew it would be a good 6 weeks before I was given the OK to return to working out. I know my body had just been through a lot so I didn’t want to push myself to do anything at home even though I felt great a week later after giving birth. A week after having my son, I was already back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. Eating right and continuing to work out throughout my entire pregnancy really helped with this.
As soon as I was given the OK to return to workout, I met with Butch to set goals for myself. It felt great being back and seeing everyone again. I even signed up for The Open which started 1 week after I returned.
The hardest part about getting back into a routine was balancing my son’s schedule. He’s our priority, so getting to the gym can be challenging. My husband and I have a great system of doing the “baby swap” at the gym! I get in my workout and then he gets in his. It works for us! In 6 months, I hope to be more toned and stronger in my workouts. One of my goals is to aim for RX workouts!
I encourage every woman to workout throughout their pregnancy. Whether it’s walking, swimming, lifting weights etc. It is safe and healthy for you and your baby. And it will make your recovery after having your baby much easier!
