My name is Erin, I’m 39 years old and CrossFit changed my life. So, I first found CrossFit eight years ago after getting sober from alcohol and quitting smoking. I had picked up some unhealthy eating habits and gained 40 pounds.
I knew I needed to make a change, but I didn’t know how. My cousin was a CrossFit coach and consistently encouraged me to try it but I was really hesitant as I had never been into sports and it seemed really intimidating to me, especially all the lifting weights. And I definitely had never lifted a weight before in my life.
Once I decided to try it, it was easy to keep going as one of my favorite aspects of CrossFit is how welcoming and encouraging everyone is, just from the minute you walk through the door.
One of the things I really love about CrossFit is that the movements are universally scalable, meaning no matter what the workout is, it can be adjusted for your level of fitness specifically.
I quickly started to look forward to my time in the gym and feel off if I missed it. I was a little surprised at how it improved so many aspects of my life. I sleep better, my moods are better regulated, and I have way more energy. The mental fortitude I’ve gained from it has bled over into every aspect of my life and I’m stronger not only physically, but mentally as well.
It’s given me the confidence to take on all kinds of challenges I’d never thought possible. I’ve watched it transform not only me and my husband, but everyone who gives it a fair shake.
