It’s OK to ask for help

Just a few days ago one of our coaches posted a goal for 2018 that read “This year I am going to start asking for help”.  This got me thinking back to March of 2015 when I made one of the best decisions of my life and asked for help.

Why I Needed a Mentor!

We are all motivated and excited to get started with something new.  But what happens after that excitement goes away?  Can you still stay on track?

We ALL need an accountability partner, mentor or someone to keep us from getting distracted from all the bright and shiny objects or to just be there when we are in over our heads.

Three years ago I hired a business Mentor.  It was the best decision I’ve ever made.  I’m forever thankful that I was in a bad position with a bad business partner my first year.  While laying out the upcoming workouts on Sunday afternoon in Panera Bread I got side tracked on some blogs about different strategies and tactics of running a gym.

At the time, I still thought “I can do this on my own” but I scheduled a free call with a business mentor anyway and that 30-mionute call was a game changer.  During that call I finally asked for help.  I am here to say is it OK to ask for help.  There are others who have already made mistakes and recovered to tell their story.

Fast forward three years, I have a successful, profitable gym with a staff that I can help guide towards their perfect day.  I could not do this alone.

Before starting with a Mentor I never had someone to bounce ideas off of, make me think more thoroughly about a problem, and simply call me out on my crap.

Today, I spend the majority of the day looking for ways to grow the business and provide staff with more opportunities and create systems that allow them to do the job more efficiently.

Yes, it has been a lot of work.  Most things that are worth it in the end are a lot of work.  Without a Mentor, we would not be where we are today.

It’s okay to ask for help.  It’s okay to make mistakes- I’ve made more than my fair share.  A mentor is there to give you a new perspective and help you get to your perfect day.
